Kermit Lynn Knetsch

Kermit Lynn Knetsch (“KL”), 95, passed away on August 26, 2020 in Sun City, AZ. He was born in Lee County, IL to Henry and Addie Knetsch. He grew up in his beloved city of Paw Paw, IL. Kermit enlisted in the U. S. Navy at a young age and sailed the Pacific Basin during WW II. He graduated from the U of IL with a B.S. in civil engineering and an LL.B. in law. Kermit played basketball for the “Fighting Illini” and was proud to be a part of the “Whiz Kids” team. His hobbies included billiards, pool, bowling, golf and watching all sports. Kermit was proud to claim a 300 bowling game in Duluth, MN and hole-in-one at PBCC in Sun City. He was an attorney in Duluth for 68+ years. Kermit was coach of several Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams for his sons and took pride in their accomplishments.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 37 years, Clarice Knetsch and children:  James (Susan) Knetsch, Elliott (Kristen) Knetsch, Marnee Knetsch, Kevin (Mary) Knetsch and son-in-law Steve Gallagher.  Stepchildren:  Rhonda (James) Simms, Mark (Shelley) Bowen, Brenda Marshall, Donn Benson and Becky Walker.  Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Kermit was predeceased by his parents, two brothers:  Henry (Gladys) and Stanley (Virginia) and sister, Geraldine Burnett (Curtis); daughter Linda Gallagher and granddaughter, Melonie Gallagher Ingvall and husband Jason.

Kermit will be buried at a private service in Paw Paw, IL. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Wounded Warriors, St. Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital or charity of choice.
