Kathy Lou Schweiger

Kathy Lou Schweiger, 77 years, passed on to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 22, 2020 in her home after a long courageous battle with Frontotemporal Lobe Dementia. She was born on March 9th, 1943 in Superior, WI to Hite and Lorraine (Fredricks) Snow. Kathy was a 1960 graduate of Superior East High School and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin Superior pursuing her degree in education, graduating in 1964. Later she received her Master’s degree and all her credits toward her Doctorate Degree. On July 10th, 1965 Kathy married John Schweiger in Superior. Kathy spent her career teaching children in the Duluth School District #709 and retired working at Laura McArthur teaching 1st graders.

Kathy was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and later Elim Lutheran Church. She enjoyed curling at the Superior Curling Club and playing a round of golf. Kathy treasured her time with family and her many, many friends. She loved going on long walks with her close friends, tending to her flowers and mowing several lawns in the neighborhood. She also loved shopping and wintering in Florida.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ronald; and three aunts. She is survived and deeply missed by her husband, John; her daughter, Heather; son, Steve; her grandchildren, Lindsay (Nelson), Shannon, Audrie, Joseph, and Isaac; great grandson, Zechariah and soon to be great granddaughter, Jaquelin; brother-in-law, Gene (Sandy) Schweiger; sister in-law, Joann Rodlund and other family members.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Bethany Community Church, 6700 Grand Avenue in Duluth with Rev. Randy Brodeen officiating. Masks and social distancing are required while attending the services.  A special thank you to Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Essentia Health Home Hospice Program and her special caregivers, Peggy Sue Kiggins, Rebecca Ratajek, Darlene Bushey, Eda Kangas, Patricia Mallow and nurse, Jeanne Glinski.
