John Richard Hedin

John Richard Hedin, 79, Two Harbors, Mn passed peacefully into the arms of his savior on Monday, November 30, 2020.

John was born in Two Harbors, Mn on June 23, 1941 to Clifford and Alice Hedin, becoming the younger sibling to “Kippy” and “MaeMae.” He spoke fondly of growing up in a small town with his two bests pals, John Baty and John Nolander (the three Johns), who were life-long friends. John was a graduate of THHS class of 1960, who enjoyed playing Agate football and basketball, singing in the choir and working at Paramont Pizza Parlor. Immediately after high school, he joined the Navy and traveled the world. He then worked retail management in multiple locations throughout the mid-west before returning to Two Harbors in the 1972, where he became a Postal Carrier for the next 26 years, proudly serving as Union Steward for his area.

An active member of the Moose Lodge, John was known for his smooth moves on the dance floor and could jitter-bug like no other. He was an avid Vikings fan and was involved in youth hockey for many years, but was happiest in the bleachers cheering on his kids and grandkids. In 1994, “Miss Mary” came into his life and they lived happily together until he passed. John loved spending time with his family and was always eager to pull out a cribbage board or start a game of Smear. In later years, he spent hours tinkering in his workshop building dollhouses, toys, shelves, chests and more for his loved ones. John delighted in the companionship of his three dogs, Chaz, Ed and Floyd. Above all else, he loved his people - looking through photos of great-grandchildren nightly or coffee with cousins Gary, Jimmy John and Steve every month, his routines were all about those he loved. He will be remembered for his contagious laugh, beaming smile and big heart. There will be a memorial service in the future.
