Joan Ann “Honey” Olson

Joan Ann “Honey” Olson, loving wife, mother, grandmother, passed away peacefully from ongoing medical problems on November 6, 2020.
Honey was born in Duluth, MN to parents Irving and Margaret Cayan. She was employed by the Chinese Lantern and several other restaurants and bars in the area. Honey and Marvin were Independent truck drivers, driving from Coast to Coast for 25 years.
Honey was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Marvin; her parents; sister, Dorothy; brother, Larry; step-son, Marvin Jr.; brother-in-law, Jim Ross, Frank Foster, and baby Harley Schwind, Jr.
Honey is survived by her two sons, Tom (Mary) Gavitt and John (Laurrie) Gavitt; daughter, Tammy Guss; step children, Darcy (Harley) Schwind, Nikki (Jay) Larson and Angie Sinkula; grandchildren, Stacey (Jon) Pearson, Steven Gavitt, Sam Gavitt, Tanya (Christoper) Gavitt, Sullivan, Tasha (Davey) Stewart, Robert (Samantha) Gavitt, Savannah Campbell; 14 great-grandchildren; her loving sister, Carol Foster. Honey & Marvin’s close friend and ex-husband, Red Gavitt.
At Honey’s request, there will be no funeral. Honey will be remembered for her stories and her love of her cooking big family meals, casual get togethers, as well as holiday meals. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Minnesota Duluth.
