James Brochu

James Brochu, 82, Superior resident, died Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at St. Lukeโ€™s Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born on March 11, 1938 in Superior, WI to Lawrence and Alice (Banks) Brochu.

James served his country in the United States Navy. He sailed on the Shangrila and was stationed in Hawaii for the last year and a half of his service. After working at U.S. Steel, he was a grain inspector for Harvest States Company for over thirty-six years retiring in 2011.

James married Mary Gehrmann on October 31, 1956 and they celebrated sixty-three years of marriage. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Superior.

James is survived by his wife, Mary; four daughters, Jean (โ€œSkiโ€) Zielinski, Forest Lake, MN, Katherine (Paul) Rosch, Wright, MN, Sandra (George) McConnell, Moose Lake, MN and Cary (Marty) Gonser, Anoka, MN; two sons, James (Marie) Brochu, Tomah, WI and David (Loree) Brochu, Superior, WI; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Ron (Deb) Brochu, Duluth, MN; one sister, Alice Fields, Beaver Dam, WI; several nieces, nephews and sisters/brothers-in-law.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bob and Russell Prigge, Fred Brochu, Joyce Piggott and Marilyn Higgins.

Due to CDC regulations and Governor mandates, a Memorial Mass for James will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at a later date.
