Gerald L. “Jerry” Hubert

Gerald L. “Jerry” Hubert, 89, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on December 7, 2020, in Reno, Nevada. Jerry was born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1931 to Ralph and Marie Hubert. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather who was universally loved by all of us. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years Bernice (Kangas) Hubert, sister Rosemary (William) Kobus, daughters Nanette (Michael) Prolo, Natalie (Michael) Bachelder, son Loren (Theresa) Hubert, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jerry attended St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Elementary, Lincoln Junior and Denfeld High School in Duluth. After working briefly in metal fabrication, Jerry went to work in purchasing for Erie Mining Company in Duluth and later in Hoyt Lakes, MN. He then became a salesman for Hawkins Chemical, Inc in Minneapolis, where he worked for 27 years. The consummate handyman, who his children believed could do anything, he and Bernice built their first house in Duluth in 1956 with their own hands. Jerry loved airplanes since his childhood and became a private pilot, amassing over 1000 hours of flying time including both seaplane and instrument ratings.
