George Victor Rogus

George Victor Rogus, 84, of Duluth, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the widower of Marjorie Jeanette Rogus. He was so happy to have spent 38 years of marriage with her, and always wished it was more.

George was born in Thorp, WI on December 16, 1936 to John and Nellie Rogus. He graduated from Cathedral High School in Superior, then served in the Army from 1956 to 1959 and was stationed in Korea. George owned and operated Clearwater Lodge in Ontario with his family for many years. His favorite part of the business was meeting the guests, many of whom became lifelong friends. He enjoyed the outdoors fishing and hunting, chess, mechanics, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his outgoing, cheery spirit.

George was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marjorie, daughter Susan, brothers August, John, and Leo.

He is survived by children Bill (Debbie) Jeanette and Mary Davidson; his grandchildren he adored Hogan and Ailie Davidson, Jason, Sean, Chelsea and Carrie Bragg, Heather and Heidi Jensen; great grandchildren; sisters Dorothy (Frank) Knapp and Joan (Jerry) Podgorski; nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of George’s health care professionals at Essentia, Fresenius Kidney Care, and Stride bus drivers.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 10:30 AM until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 4901 E Superior St. Duluth, MN 55804. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Duluth at a later date.
