Gene Raymond Smith Sr.

Gene was born in Duluth Minnesota on September 9, 1937. He went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 17, 2020. Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved racing cars, snowmobiles and motorcycles in his younger years.  Gene never missed a Nascar race on tv! He was a proud member of the  Ironworkers local 563 union. He worked on the Blatnik and Mackinac bridges to name a few. He was also a member of the Moose, Elks, Mason, Eagles  and Shriners. and served in the Minnesota National Guard. Gene helped anyone who was in need without a second thought and earned respect and admiration from those who knew him. He cherished his wife, children and grandchildren and never stopped working to better their lives. He will be forever missed. Gene was preceded in death by his sisters Marilyn Curtician, and Joan Gilderman. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeryln Smith, Son, Gene Smith Jr. (Wendy) Daughter, Jody Smith (Ryan) grand-daughters Ciara Stocker (Brady) and Stephanie Smith, sister, Darlene Godbout (Russel) and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the compassionate staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
