Frank Robert Oman
Frank Robert Oman (69) of Duluth, passed away surrounded by family, on February 29, 2020. Frank was born on April 26, 1950 to Earl and Dorothy (Olson) Oman. Frank grew up in Proctor, MN and graduated from Proctor High School in 1968. He met the love of his life, Peg (Pauley) Oman while standing in line at Wards Auto Repair, the place he thereafter referred to as “The Most Romantic Place in Town.” They wed on July 30, 1977 and had three children: Andy, Matthew and Becky.
Frank worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for 28 years. He was an excellent carrier and well loved by his customers. He had many interests and hobbies including reading, history, The Beatles, traveling, playing pool, trivia, golfing, snowshoeing, refinishing furniture, bike riding on the Munger Trail, and playing Scrabble with Peg. One of the best things he discovered when he retired was University for Seniors at UMD. Frank and Peg loved to play Bridge with the University for Seniors on Fridays. He was a talented photographer and took many graduation and wedding photos. He loved spending time and playing with his grandchildren. Frank was a good friend to many and had a kind and caring heart. He had a great love for life and the people he knew.
He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Dorothy Oman and sister-in-law Marsha Oman.
Frank is survived by his wife, Peg, his three children; Andy (Beth) Oman, Matthew Oman (Hope David and her children Saul and Thea), and Becky (Cole) deCathelineau, his three grandchildren; Lily, Abby, and Calvin; his brothers; Leroy (Paula) Oman and Gordon Oman, his nephew Brian (Judy) Oman and niece Lynnette (Phil) Krampf, his aunt Dorrie Eggers, his in-laws; Ed (Eileen) Pauley, Pete (Jo) Pauley, Paul (Jeanna) Pauley, Nora Pauley, Mark (Deanna) Pauley, Mary (Kevin) Nelson, and Tom (Kelly) Pauley and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family would like to especially thank the fabulous staff at 9 West for their loving care and support throughout Frank’s numerous days of hospitalization these past three and a half years. They were like family to Frank and Peg. The family would also like to thank the oncology staff at Essentia for their kindness and expertise that allowed Frank to enjoy life throughout his 14-year battle with cancer.
Visitation to be held at 5-7pm, Friday, March 6th, at Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home, 3208 West 3rd Street, Duluth, MN. 218-624-1059 There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday, March 7th, visitation at 10:00 AM followed by the service at 11:00 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2430 West 3rd Street, Duluth, MN. Burial will be at Oneota Cemetery.
