Earl B. Gustafson, 90, died peacefully in Minneapolis, MN on April 16, 2018 after his long and courageous battle with dementia.

He was born to Albin and Mabel Gustafson in Duluth, MN on September 27, 1927.

Earl graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1945, where he was elected Captain of both the basketball and football teams in his Senior Year. He received a B.S. Degree in Business and Economics from Gustavus Adolphus College and a Law Degree from the University of Minnesota Law School.

Earl served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and spent 23 years in private law practice in Duluth.

In 1952, Earl married the love of his life, Donna Marie Larsen, and their marriage of 66 years produced 8 children.

Earl was elected to 3 terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives and 1 term in the Minnesota Senate from 1963-1973. He was appointed to the Minnesota Tax Court in 1977 and he served as Chief Judge until his retirement in 1995.

Earl is survived by his wife Donna; his daughters Kim (Nancy), Mary (Amr), Sarah, and Katie (Marcus). His sons Ben (Terry), Joseph, Brad (Dena), and Peter. Earl and Donna have 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Earl will always be remembered as a kind, generous, intelligent, soft-spoken, and witty gentleman.

A Memorial Service will be held on May 10, 2018 at Unity Church, 733 Portland Ave., St. Paul, MN 55104.
