Donna Ekberg

Donna Jeanne Berglund Ekberg, 83, died in Minneapolis on December 1, 2020. She was born in Minneapolis in 1937 to Donald and Jeanne Berglund. She grew up in South Minneapolis, attending public school and graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1955. She attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in Occupational Therapy in 1959. At the same time she married Frederic Ekberg, whom she met in high school. They were married for 61 years and raised 4 children, Paul [Kathy], Edina, Jennifer, Mound, Peter [Mara], Wayzata, and Elizabeth [Shawn], Duluth. There are also four grandchildren, William, Jon, Wesley and Evan and one great-grandchild, Finn. She started two successful businesses in Duluth, Northern Rehab Services and Lizzard’s Art Gallery. Both are still operating. Donna was a friend and mentor to everyone she met. She was deeply loved by her family and the center of their universe. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
