Bernard L. “Bernie” Carlson

Bernard L. “Bernie” Carlson, 84, of Barnes, WI, died Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth. Bernard was born on October 11, 1936 in Swatara, MN to Charles and Emma (Bolz) Carlson. Bernie married Joyce Pickles on January 4th, 1958. Together they settled in Duluth where he found a job with Minnesota Power as a lineman. Bernie retired from Minnesota Power in 1995 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Barnes Community Church and its Men’s Club. He enjoyed fixing, building and inventing “things”. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; son, Doug; grandson, Kyle; parents; six siblings, Clarence William, Alvin Marvin, Arnold Regnold, Viola Leona Carlson O’Brien, Donald Carl and Verden Eugene. Bernie is survived by a daughter, Cindy (Dennis) Undahl; three sons, David, Mark (Sarah) and Jayme (Lori); grandchildren, Jeremy Bugbee, Hannah Carlson, David Jaymes Carlson, Tanner Carlson and Cheyenne Carlson; three great-grandchildren, Marley, Jack and Kyla. Memorial service 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Barnes Community Church in Barnes, WI. Burial in Oneota Cemetery. Memorials to the American Red Cross would be appreciated.
