Barbara Jean LaTour

Barbara Jean LaTour, age 78, was born September 25, 1941, in Hibbing, MN and passed away peacefully at home with family on May 25, 2020.

Barb attended Central High School, and went on to graduate from Luella and Porter’s Beauty College in 1959.  Barb and Wayne were married on July 23, 1960 and were together for more than 61 years. Barb briefly worked as a beautician and was then a homemaker. She eventually enjoyed working as a “Lunch Lady” at Merritt and Laura McArthur schools.

Barb was very devoted to her family and especially loved family gatherings during special occasions. She also very much enjoyed their trip to Hawaii in 2000, with special friend, Jerry Veillet.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved granddaughter, Debra Jean LaTour-Firn.  Barb is survived by her husband, Wayne LaTour; children, Steve (Julie) LaTour, Cheryl (Brian) Johnson, David (Pam) LaTour; grandchildren, Brianna (Matt) Landsom, Taylor McCannell, Michael (Brittany) LaTour-Nicholson, Michael Deubner, Marisa McCannell, Zoe (Kyle) LaTour; grandson-in-law, Tim (Shannon) Firn; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Riley Firn; and great-great-grandchildren, Leah, Emily, and Skylar LaTour-Nicholson.

A special “Thank You” to all of the staff at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospice Home Care for all of their help in Barb’s last weeks of life. It was deeply appreciated.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate Barb’s life.
