Ann Marie “BaBa” (Opack) Nelson
Ann Marie (Opack) Nelson, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Evergreen Knoll in Cloquet on Saturday, March 7th, 2020.
Ann was born on May 8th, 1937 in Duluth to Michael and Anna Opack. She grew up on Raleigh Street and was a graduate of Denfeld High School. She spent her adult life traveling the world as an Air Force wife and travel agent.
Ann is survived by her son Aaron (Cheryl) Nelson; granddaughters Holly (Kiel) Amundson, Megan (Brian Watkins) Nelson, Stacy (Kody Lohse) Nelson; great grandson Connor Amundson; siblings Catherine McCurdy, Stephan Opack, Madeline Opack, Mary (Richard) Lescenski, Dolly Radich, and Dorothy Opack; and many other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Nelson, of 37 years; her parents Michael and Anna Opack; and siblings Michael Opack, Peter Opack, Joseph Opack, John Opack, Rose Amlin, Helen Haugland, and James Opack.
The visitation will be held on Sunday March 15th at 4:30 PM and will conclude with the Rosary at 6:30 PM at the 1st Memorial Chapel at 4100 Grand Avenue Duluth, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday March 16th at 11 am with visitation one hour prior at St. James Catholic Church on 57th Ave W. Duluth, MN.
In lieu of flowers, family is requesting that donations be made to Evergreen Knoll in Ann’s memory. Her family would like to thank the staff for the wonderful care Ann received while living there.
