Al Smith

Alvin C. Smith, age 90, died July 3, 2020 in Gardnerville, NV. He was born April 3, 1930 in Solon Springs, WI to Henry and Elizabeth (Story) Smith. Al shipped out on the Great Lakes at age 16, working as an engineer from 1946  to 1969. He drove truck for Gateway Foods for 22 years and retired in 1990.  Al  was one of a kind, a great character with a sharp sense of humor and big smile – always surrounded by friends. A resident of Duluth, MN most of his life, he is survived by sons Bruce (Rachnee) and Mike (Pam), daughter Michelle (Mickey), grandchildren Brandy, Matthew and Maximilian, great grandchildren Eli, Taylor and Will, sister Betty Landreth and his lifelong friend, Bob Stansky. A memorial service will be held at a time yet to be determined and a private burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Solon Springs.
