Betty Louise Johnson
Betty Louise Johnson, age 88, of Dunedin, FL, formerly of Duluth, passed away on April 8, 2019. She was born to the late Lewis and Esther Bonnette on July 1, 1930.
After being raised on a farm in rural Minnesota, Betty earned a degree in nursing making a career in the nursing field. She was employed at St. Lukes Hospital in Duluth for more than 30 years.
Filled with compassion, a sense of humor and interest in others, Betty made friends easily and maintained contact with many. She claimed to never have had an argument with anyone, but emphasized she was an expert at debate.
A woman of many talents, Betty loved to host and entertain, frequently having holiday parties at her home. Her culinary skills were remarkable, and she will long be remembered for her delicious pies and specialty fudge. Her gracious smile and pleasant personality could light up a room. She was an active member of the community, most recently, with the Pequaywan Lakes Area Valley Homemakers, known now as the WoodChix.
Betty enjoyed many of her summer months spending time at her lake home on Pequaywan Lake, near Duluth, where she enjoyed many lifelong friends.
It is the simple things in life she never took for granted, commenting daily how fortunate and thankful she was.
In addition to a busy work and social schedule, Betty, along with her husband, raised five children and were most proud of their many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Above all, Betty was absolutely devoted to her family. She was a mother and grandmother who involved herself in every detail of their lives, and supported, respected, and loved her husband Cameron, unconditionally.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Cameron, and her son Craig.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory, sister Marlene Carlson (Mylo), children Mark (Linda), Kevin (Karen), Denae Nadeau (Clem), Denise Porter (Rick Helgeson), 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial tribute to Betty and Cameron will be held Sunday, May 26, as a part of the 10am service at the Lakeside Chapel, 8905 Pequaywan Lake Rd, Duluth, MN 55803. A brunch honoring the couple will follow the service.
