Anna Mae "Dot" Loisel
Anna Mae "Dot" Loisel, 92 of Cloquet, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 in Inter-Faith Care Center. She was born to Nels and May (Atkinson) Nelson on the family homestead at Atkinson, MN (a township named for her grandparents, John and Mary Atkinson) on October 22, 1926. Anna graduated from Barnum High School as the Valedictorian and Homecoming Queen. She was united in marriage to Harry Ernest Loisel on February 9, 1946 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cloquet.
Anna was an active member at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, served as Lector, Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD for the 2nd grade for seven years, was a member of Holy Angels Circle and the Lady Foresters Court #309. She was also a life member of Herbert Kennedy Auxiliary #3979 and was a Past President and held other offices; Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Carlton Co. #18, serving as treasurer and adjutant from 1982 until 2006. Anna was a Life member of the Air Force Sergeant Association Auxiliary and the retired enlisted Association Auxiliary.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 2003; son, Francis in 1951; brothers, Norman, Edwin, Nels and Lelay Nelson; sisters, Lucille Nelson and Esther Anderson, great-granddaughter, Michaela Hill. She is survived by her children, Annamae Karen (Jeff) Johnson, Renee Smith, Harry (Marge) Loisel Jr., Patricia (Mike) Rehl, Paul Loisel, Jack (Patricia) Loisel, Michael (Barbara) Loisel, Mary (Scott) Bakken, and Robyn (Allen) Raushel; 25 grandchildren; 61 great- grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; her in-laws, Gladys Nelson, Donna Loisel, Ray and Jeanette Loisel; numerous nieces and nephews; neighbors, Gina and Joe Murphy. The family extends a special thank you to Rhonda Johnson and Park Avenue Fitness.
An evening visitation will be held Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Nelson Funeral Care from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service held at 6:30 p.m. Services will continue Monday, March 25, 2019 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Mass.
