Alyce Thelma (Ronning) Bodin

Alyce was born on April 13, 1926 in Duluth, Minnesota. She attended Proctor Schools where she served as a majorette in the Proctor High School Band. She graduated from Proctor High School in 1945.

Following high school, Alyce worked at Greyhound where she met her future husband, Donald Bodin. Don and Alyce were married on September 29, 1948.

Alyce worked at Stadium Bowling Lanes for several years. She also served on the Girl Scout Camp Roundelay Board and volunteered at St. Lukes Hospital for 36 years and also served on the Board of Directors there.

Alyce was a member of the First Covenant Church of Duluth and later in life she belonged to the Twig New Life Covenant Church where she served as a deacon.

Mom belonged to three birthday clubs and enjoyed spending time with her many friends through the years. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafting, swimming and helping others. Mom and dad also enjoyed traveling to Idaho many times through the years. Mom said numerous times that her favorite time of life was the years that they lived at their cabin on Caribou Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Esther Ronning, Uncle Helge Lovestad, her brother John and sister, Bernice Rose.

Alyce is survived by her husband, Donald; daughters, Allyson (Mark) Bergman Blaine, MN and Debbie (Clark) Kauffman Filer, ID; her brother, Dick Ronning Alborn, MN; sister-in-law, Janie Humphrey Brownsville, TX; five grandchildren, Diana (Robert Cockrell, Olympia, WA, Andy (Katie) Kauffman, Twin Falls, ID, Erik (Megan) Bergman, Thornton, CO, Britt (Christopher) Konczyk, Buffalo, NY, Bjorn (Heidi Krattiger) Bergman Viroqua, WI; and six great-grandchildren.

Gathering of family and friends from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service Wednesday, Aug, 15th in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel. 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth.
