Robert A. Sabroski Sr., 90, of Duluth, passed away on Tuesday Sept. 13, 2016 in St. Luke's Hospital.
He was born in Duluth on June 25, 1926 to August and Mary Sabroski.
Bob had attended Duluth Junior College and UMD. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. Bob worked for the City of Duluth in the Water & Gas Department for 35 years. He married Mary Lou Armstrong on Sept. 12, 1953 in Duluth.
Bob was a lifetime member of the VFW, and a member of the American Legion, and St. Michael's Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing the accordion, fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and having fun.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Van Etta and the staff at St. Luke's Hospital for the kind and compassionate care Bob received.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Frank, George, Edward, John, Anna, and Rosemary; daughter, Nancy Engelsgjerd; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Sabroski.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lou; children, Mary Kay Sabroski, Daniel (Rebecca), Susan (Jim) Smart, Barbara (Greg) Gecas, Robert Jr., Jean (Nick) Revier, Alan (Suzanne), and Sarah (Frank) Selhorst; 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday Sept. 16, 2016 with Wake Prayers at 6:30 p.m. in Dougherty Funeral Home, and will continue from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Catholic Church. 4901 E. Superior St., Duluth, MN 55804, on Saturday Sept. 17, 2016. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Military Honors will be Accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard.
