St. Louis River Alliance Wednesdays on the Water, 3-6 p.m. Sept. 16, Boy Scout Landing, Commonwealth Avenue, Duluth. The Alliance hosts a tent at St. Louis River Estuary National Water Trail access points to hand out free maps of the National Water Trail. The map includes 11 loop trails of the multi-use waterway for paddlers of all skill levels and is intended for various watercraft use.

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources turkey stamp contest: Turkey stamp artwork entries will be accepted Sept. 21 to Oct. 2. Stamp sales benefit fish and wildlife habitat work. The stamps can be purchased in combination with a hunting or fishing license, or as collectables.
