Duluth police investigate downtown shooting
A man survived being shot in the face late Tuesday in downtown Duluth, where police officers found the man wounded but responsive in the area of Second Avenue West and Superior Street.
The Duluth Police Department described the wound as “consistent with that of a gunshot,” in a news release on Wednesday.
Officers responded to a report of a single gunshot at 11:20 p.m. The man was transported to the hospital in stable condition, the police said.
A suspect was not in custody, but the victim and suspect are known to each other, and Duluth police do not consider the incident random.
“The Duluth Police Department does not believe there is any threat to public safety,” the news release said.
The police did not identify the victim or give the name of the suspect.
“Resources are being dedicated to this ongoing investigation, and updates will be shared when available,” police spokesperson Ingrid Hornibrook said.
