Bring your holsters and old-timey revolvers to this weekend’s quick draw competition.

The Twin Ports’ Black River Bandits are hosting a Cowboy Fast Draw Wisconsin state tournament in the 4H Building at the Head of the Lakes Fairgrounds at 4700 Tower Ave.

In Cowboy Fast Draw, shooters compete with wax bullets and faithful reproductions of 1800s-era six-guns and holsters. They’re judged on speed and accuracy, from holster to target.

Registration opens at 10:30 a.m. Friday with a celebrity charity shoot. Proceeds go to the Challenge Center of Superior, and celeb sightings are on the agenda with participation from Superior mayor Jim Paine, Justin Liles from WDIO and more.

The Wisconsin state tournament continues at 8:30 a.m. Saturday with a main match and continues at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Superior Fairgrounds. Expect cowboy garb and cheeky aliases.

Shooters must be current CFDA members, and admission is free for spectators. Visit for more information.
