St. Luke's, Essentia have bivalent COVID booster
Both health care systems, as well as most pharmacies and the DECC, have the new booster available by appointment.
DULUTH — The bivalent COVID-19 vaccine booster is available from both Essentia and St. Luke's, as well as at several pharmacies and the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.
The updated booster includes components of the original virus strain and the omicron variant, making them bivalent boosters. The vaccine was given emergency use authorization by the Food and Drug Administration at the end of August to be used as a single-dose booster at least two months after primary or booster vaccination.
St. Luke's, Essentia and the DECC all offer the Pfizer bivalent booster, which is approved as a booster for people age 12 and older.
