Another St. Louis County resident has died of COVID-19 and its complications and another 40 Northland residents have tested positive. That's the lowest daily number of cases since mid-September.
The St. Louis County resident was between 80 and 84 years old, according to the Minnesota Department of Health. They were one of 18 people who died statewide.
Wisconsin reported 34 deaths Wednesday. None were Northland residents.
New cases and seven-day averages in Northland counties:

- Cook — 0; 0.1.
- Itasca — 6; 4.9.
- Koochiching — 0; 1.9.
- Lake — 1; 2.3.
- St. Louis — 23; 45.7.
- Ashland — 3; 3.9.
- Bayfield — 0; 3.3.
- Douglas — 4; 8.
The new cases were among 851 new cases in Minnesota and 1,328 in Wisconsin.

Vaccines have been administered to about another 1,350 Northeastern Minnesotans as of Monday. Of those vaccinated, 704 received their second dose, completing the two-dose series.
Of those vaccinations, about 1,000 more shots were administered to St. Louis County residents, 200 to Carlton County residents and 68 to Itasca County residents.
