Twenty-eight more residents in the 10-county region of the Northland have tested positive for COVID-19 and no new deaths were reported Wednesday.
The Northland has not recorded a new death from COVID-19 since Saturday, Feb. 13. Overall, Minnesota and Wisconsin each reported 10 deaths from the illness on Wednesday.
New cases and seven-day averages in Northland counties:
- Aitkin — 3; 1.1.
- Carlton — 4; 2.7.
- Cook — 1; 0.3.
- Itasca — 1; 6.6.
- Koochiching — 0; 0.4.
- Lake — 3; 3.
- St. Louis — 15; 20.
- Ashland — 1; 0.9.
- Bayfield — 0; 0.7.
- Douglas — 0; 1.9.
The new cases were among 783 in Minnesota and 657 in Wisconsin.
Another 1,700 COVID-19 vaccine doses have reached the arms of Northeastern Minnesota residents, bringing the total number of people with at least one dose in the region to more than 60,000, according to state data. About a third of those people have completed the two-dose series.

Wisconsin reported in its daily vaccine update that Douglas, Ashland and Bayfield counties collectively logged a little more than 1,000 new vaccinations. More than 10,500 residents in the three-county region have received at least one shot.
