Northland counties report 100 more COVID-19 cases Monday; 1 more person dies

Another person died of COVID-19 in Itasca County its 15th death.

One additional person has died from COVID-19 in Itasca County and another 54 people in Northeastern Minnesota have tested positive for the illness, while in Northwestern Wisconsin, 46 more cases were recorded.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health, the Itasca County resident was between 55 and 59 years old and was one of seven deaths reported across the state Monday — five of those people lived in private residences and two in long-term care or assisted living facilities.

None of the other deaths reported Monday were in Northeastern Minnesota. Monday's death is Itasca County's 15th COVID-19 death.

St. Louis County reported 38 new cases Monday. Itasca County recorded eight new cases, Carlton County noted five, Aitkin County reported two and Lake County had one.

Statewide, Minnesota reported another 936 cases Monday and another 22,162 daily tests.

In Wisconsin, there were 34 new cases recorded in Douglas County, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Ashland County also saw an increase of seven cases and Bayfield County had an increase of five cases.

Statewide, there were two deaths due to COVID-19, but neither were from Northwestern Wisconsin. Another 7,885 tests were completed with 1,726 of those confirmed as positive.
