Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth is closed temporarily due to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19, the zoo announced via a Facebook post Tuesday.
The zoo will remain closed while the buildings are sanitized and cleaned. The individual staff member is reported to have not had contact with zoo visitors after the onset of symptoms and was not working with visitors during the last shift worked.
" We have conducted a contact-tracing investigation and any staff that were in CDC-defined close contact with the infected individual will be quarantined for 14 days," the post said. "Please know that our animals are still being well-cared for during this time while we are closed to the public."
The zoo will post reopening information on its Facebook page.
