DULUTH — A webinar hosted by Essentia and the American Heart Association will inform attendees of the risks and statistics of heart disease in women. The free GoRED webinar will be at 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

The interactive presentation will teach viewers about risk factors that contribute to heart disease and ways to minimize those factors, plus a question-and-answer session. Speakers will include Essentia cardiologists Dr. Natalia Rocha, Dr. Catherine Benziger and Dr. Nicole Worden and a local survivor who experienced a severe heart attack in fall 2021.

Registration is open to the public and can be found at essentiahealth.org/about/essentia-health-newsroom/essentia-partners-with-aha-for-gored-webinar.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, and accounted for 301,280 deaths among American women in 2019 — or about one in every five female deaths, according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
