A St. Louis County resident between ages 50 and 54 died of COVID-19, according to the Minnesota Department of Health on Tuesday. They were one of two deaths in the state. There have now been 311 deaths related to COVID-19 in St. Louis County. Wisconsin reported eight deaths across the state.

Of the 125 new positive COVID-19 cases reported in Minnesota and 168 cases reported in Wisconsin on Tuesday, nine were in the Northland.

  • Douglas — 2; 2.

In the Northland's 10 counties, 93 new first doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered as of data reported Tuesday and 174 more people became fully vaccinated. The region's population is 49% fully vaccinated.

Percentage of people with at least one vaccine dose in each county:

  • Aitkin — 49%.
  • Carlton — 57%.
  • Cook — 72%.
  • Itasca — 46%.
  • Koochiching — 46%.
  • Lake — 56%.
  • St. Louis — 55%.
  • Ashland — 53%.
  • Bayfield — 61%.
  • Douglas — 51%.
