Minnesota and Wisconsin health officials reported Monday that 103 more people in the Northland have tested positive for COVID-19.

The 10-county region logged no new deaths from the illness.

New cases and seven-day averages in Northland counties:

  • Itasca — 28; 29.1.

  • Koochiching — 4; 2.

  • Lake — 0; 0.9.

  • St. Louis — 45; 39.6.

  • Ashland — 0; 1.3.

  • Bayfield — 1; 0.7.

  • Douglas — 15; 6.7.

Statewide, Minnesota reported 899 new cases and three deaths, while Wisconsin reported 349 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths.

Most of the vaccination gains on Monday involved people receiving their second dose. In the Northland, 202 people received their first dose while 719 received their second dose.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported that half of the people eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine in the northeastern part of the state have completed their vaccine series.

That's 49% of the entire population when factoring in children below age 16.

In Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas counties, 48% of the area's population has completed their vaccine series.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services does not track the percentage of people age 16 and older who are vaccinated.
