Another two residents of the 10 counties that make up the Northland have died of COVID-19 related illnesses. One was a St. Louis County resident in their early 70s and one was an Itasca County resident in their early 60s, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

Overall, the region saw an increase of 86 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.

Statewide, Minnesota reported 1,847 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 deaths. Wisconsin reported 518 new cases and no new deaths Sunday.

Another 2,721 Northeastern Minnesota residents have received their first dose of the vaccine. Another 301 people in Wisconsin's Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas counties have received their first dose.
