A St. Louis County resident between ages 75 and 79 died as a result of COVID-19, the state of Minnesota reported Thursday. In the Northland, 28 new cases were confirmed.

As vaccinations of frontline workers and seniors continue, 2,322 more Minnesotans and 1,379 more Wisconsinites in the Northland received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine as of Thursday.

Statewide, 949 cases and 14 deaths were reported in Minnesota, while Wisconsin reported 677 new cases and 12 deaths Thursday.

Nearly half of the Northlanders who have started their vaccine series have completed both doses. Johnson & Johnson's vaccine, which is only a single shot, is included in the state's data for both "people with at least one vaccine dose" and "people with completed vaccine series." Of the 92,216 Northlanders who have received at least one dose of vaccine, 50,791 people have completed the series.
