The states of Minnesota and Wisconsin reported Saturday that 93 more Northland residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

Another two residents from the 10-county region have died from the illness. One was a St. Louis County resident in their 100s and the other was a Carlton County resident in their late 90s. St. Louis County has now lost 240 residents to COVID-19, while Carlton County has lost 43 people.

Minnesota reported a total of 37 new deaths and Wisconsin reported 128. None of those Wisconsin residents lived in the Northland.

New cases and seven-day averages in Northland counties:

  • Cook — 0; 0.6.
  • Itasca — 11; 8.4.
  • Koochiching — 5; 3.
  • Lake — 2; 5.7.
  • St. Louis — 43; 49.1.
  • Ashland — 2; 3.6.
  • Bayfield — 9; 5.
  • Douglas — 14; 15.3.

The new cases were among 1,529 in Minnesota and 1,937 in Wisconsin.

Another 769 Northeastern Minnesota residents have received their first shot of a COVID-19 vaccine, bringing the total number of people to more than 14,000 in the region. Of those people, more than 2,800 have completed their vaccine series of two doses.

St. Louis County logged 395 more vaccinated residents, Itasca recorded 206, Carlton County had 71 and Aitkin County has 67.

Statewide, more than 174,000 Minnesotans have received a COVID-19 vaccine and more than 32,000 of those people have completed the series.
