Northland counties reported 36 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, including a new daily record of 18 in St. Louis County.

Douglas County saw eight new cases, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. In Minnesota, Koochiching added five cases, Carlton saw four and Itasca added one.

Across Minnesota, the state Department of Health reported 745 new cases, with the completion of 14,164 more tests. The health department also reported five new deaths, but none in the Northland.

The number of patients hospitalized in an intensive care unit in Minnesota was 141, down two from Wednesday. The number of people hospitalized due to COVID-19, but not in an ICU, was 157, down 10 for Wednesday.

In Wisconsin, 17,270 tests were completed. There were 1,059 new cases confirmed and eight deaths reported statewide.
