The Northland saw an increase of 148 new cases Sunday, with 87 of those cases residing in St. Louis County. The county with the next highest number of new cases in the 10-county region of the Northland was Itasca County with 15 new cases.

  • Cook — 3; 1.

  • Itasca — 15; 11.

Statewide, Minnesota reported 40 more deaths from COVID-19 and 2,534 positive tests. Wisconsin reported nine new deaths statewide Saturday, along with 2,287 new cases.
Data may appear skewed due to a slowdown in testing and changes in data reporting over Christmas. Wisconsin reported new case and death information Friday. Because Minnesota did not, today's report includes two days' worth of data.
