3 more people die of COVID-19 in Northland

321 more people in Northland tested positive for the virus.

Two more people in Aitkin County and another in Itasca County have died from COVID-19, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

The two Aitkin County deaths were people between ages 85 and 89 and 90 and 94, and the Itasca County death was a person between ages 75 and 79, according to the state. Statewide, another 19 people died, but no other deaths were recorded in the Northland.

Across the 10-county Northland region, 321 more people have tested positive for COVID-19, 188 of whom are from St. Louis County — the county's second-highest daily case count.

Over the last week, St. Louis County has recorded an average 130.4 new cases per day, almost double the 71.9 new-case daily average from the week prior.

Minnesota

  • Carlton — 48; 34.9.

  • Itasca — 28; 28.6.

  • Aitkin — 5; 14.4.

  • Koochiching — 4; 3.9.

  • Lake — 3; 5.6.

  • Cook — 3; 1.6.

Wisconsin

  • Ashland — 22; 15.6.
  • Bayfield — 16; 14.6.
  • Douglas — 4; 26.

Statewide, Minnesota reported 3,930 more infections. Completed diagnostic tests were up by 26,004 in Minnesota. The state's single-day testing positivity rate — the percentage of tests that have come back positive — was 15.1%.
Statewide in Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 4,360 more infections and completed another 9,717 more tests. The state's single-day positivity rate was 44.8%.

There were 17 deaths reported in Wisconsin; none were Northland residents.
