229 more Northland residents test positive for COVID-19

There were no new deaths recorded Monday in the Northland.

Across the 10-county region of the Northland, 229 more people have tested positive for the coronavirus Monday.

St. Louis County reported 124 new infections Monday. The county's seven-day average of new cases is 126 a day.

New cases and seven-day averages in other counties:

Minnesota

  • Aitkin — 3; 10.

  • Carlton — 20; 26.

  • Cook — zero; 1.

  • Itasca — 35; 29.

  • Koochiching — 5; 6.

  • Lake — 1; 3.

Wisconsin

  • Bayfield — 12; 11.

  • Douglas — 24; 39.

Statewide in Minnesota, 3,026 more people have tested positive for COVID-19. Completed diagnostic tests are up by 45,341, which brings the state's single-day testing positivity rate — the percentage of tests that come back positive — to 6.67%.

Statewide in Wisconsin, 2,122 more people have tested positive and completed tests are up by 7,350. The state's single-day positivity rate calculated to about 28.87% Monday.

Minnesota reported 18 more COVID-19-related deaths statewide Monday and Wisconsin reported 12 more deaths statewide. None of the deaths were Northland residents.

The Minnesota Department of Health updated its hospital capacity dashboard Monday. Statewide as of Sunday: 142 ICU beds were available, 14 of which were in Northeast Minnesota, and 895 non-ICU beds were available, 110 of which were available in Northeast Minnesota.

As for ventilators, 1,017 were available statewide with 59 of those in Northeast Minnesota.
