"The Forgotten Theater of War During WWII" is a free presentation at Carmody Irish Pub & Brewing, 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25.

In 1943, Richard "Dick" Kern served in the U.S. Army Air Force with the 436th Bombardment Squadron, 10th Air Force. He was a Staff Sergeant and tail gunner in a B-24J "Liberator" bomber and flew 300 combat flying hours with his crew.

Richard will talk about his bombing missions in Burma and French Indochina in 1944, along with his time spent supplying gas to fighter strips in China for the Flying Tigers. He will also talk about his time spent in India where he continued to bomb bridges, like the bridge on the River Kwai.

Attendees may park in the ramp behind and connected to the Sheraton, which is across the street from Carmody's.

Veterans' Memorial Hall, a program of the St. Louis County Historical Society, sponsors the event as part of a series, "History in a Pint." Veterans' Memorial Hall's website, www.vets-hall.org , features more than 6,000 veteran stories.
