One woman was seriously injured Tuesday in a crash involving four vehicles on East Second Street in Superior, according to Superior Fire Department officials.

The crash occurred just before 5 p.m. when a woman who was driving south on East Second hit a sport utility vehicle that was stopped at a stoplight at the intersection with Belknap Street, Superior Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Edwards said.

After hitting the SUV, the woman's car went into oncoming traffic and hit another car head-on that also was waiting at the stoplight. A fourth car, waiting behind the one hit head-on, also suffered damage.

The woman was the only one taken to a hospital for treatment, Edwards said.
