Woman injured in Midway Township vehicle accident

A young Cloquet woman was injured when her car was struck from behind and pushed into oncoming traffic Tuesday morning in Midway Township, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

A young Cloquet woman was injured when her car was struck from behind and pushed into oncoming traffic Tuesday morning in Midway Township, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

The extent of the woman's injuries wasn't known Tuesday evening, but they were not believed to be life threatening, the Sheriff's Office said. Her name and age were not released, although she was described as a teenager by the Sheriff's Office.

The incident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. at Midway and Stark roads when the car was rear-ended by a cargo truck while waiting to make a left turn onto Stark Road, according to a news release.

The impact forced the car into the oncoming lane of traffic, where it was hit by a northbound pickup truck, the news release said.

The driver of the car was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center, while the male drivers of the two trucks were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

All three drivers, who were the lone occupants of their vehicles, were wearing seat belts, the Sheriff's Office said. The accident remains under investigation.
