A South Range woman who swiped cash and checks from residents of a Superior group home and also cashed checks stolen from the Development Center will spend the next 18 months on probation.

If she successfully completes probation -- which includes paying restitution to those she stole from -- Heather Lynne Miller, 20, could have the convictions expunged from her record.

Miller pleaded no contest Friday in Douglas County Court to one charge of misdemeanor theft, party to the crime, in the group home case. She also pleaded no contest to one charge of misdemeanor theft, party to the crime, for cashing the Development Association checks; one charge of disorderly conduct for kicking in the door of a woman's residence; and one misdemeanor theft charge for taking items from a woman's purse while she was working out at a Superior fitness center.

Five additional charges of misdemeanor theft, one felony burglary charge and a charge of misdemeanor criminal damage to property as well as one ordinance violation of fighting were dismissed, with one of the theft charges being read in for restitution.

Judge George Glonek sentenced Miller to 18 months' probation on each charge, to run concurrently. Conditions of probation include three days in jail, undergoing a chemical dependency evaluation and following recommendations, no contact with victims, $40 in fines as well as court costs and surcharges. Miller was also ordered to pay her share of $3,180.29 restitution, which covers all the cases.
