A Roseau, Minn., woman was killed and two Duluth women suffered minor injuries in an accident in Bemidji on Saturday.
Minnesota State Police said Alice Hedlund, 88, of Roseau was in the back seat of a 2001 Dodge Caravan driven by Jeanette Hedlund, 60, of Duluth at 1 p.m. Saturday on U.S. Highway 2 west of Bemidji when a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Chelsea Graves, 19, of Red Lake, Minn., hit it broadside. The westbound Caravan was turning into Pete's West when it was hit by the eastbound Malibu.
Jeanette Hedlund and a front-seat passenger, Diane Garasha of Duluth, were treated at the scene for minor injuries, police said. Alice Hedlund was taken to Bemidji Hospital where she died from her injuries.
Graves also was injured and was treated and released at Bemidji Hospital.
Jeanette Hedlund, Garasha and Graves all were wearing seatbelts, police said; Alice Hedlund was not.
