A 31-year-old woman died following an ATV and vehicle collision near the 4100 block of County Road 8 near Moose Lake on Saturday afternoon.
The side-by-side ATV was traveling on the Soo Trail east of Moose Lake around 3 p.m. when it collided with a car at a trail and driveway intersection, according to a report from the Carlton County Sheriff's Office.
The ATV passenger was transported to Essentia Hospital in Moose Lake and later flown to a Duluth-area hospital where she died. The remaining occupants of the ATV and car did not report any injuries. The woman's name was not released with the incident report.
The crash remains under investigation by the Carlton County Sheriff's Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office. Carlton County sheriff's deputies responded to the scene, along with the Moose Lake Police Department, Minnesota DNR, Moose Lake Fire Department, Essentia Ambulance and Life Link helicopter.
