The Wisconsin Department of Transportation along with the State Patrol is advising motorists not to travel on northern Wisconsin highways now through Friday, unless absolutely necessary.

The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm and Blizzard Warnings in several northern counties beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday. Heavy, wet snow combined with high winds will lead to white-out conditions in many areas, limiting visibility for motorists. By the time the storm moves through the area, 8 to 18 inches of snow is expected to fall.

Motorists who must travel are advised to monitor weather and road conditions before leaving.
