A winter storm is forecast to bring a mix of rain, freezing rain and snow to the Northland this weekend, with accumulating snow possible for some parts of the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for most of Northeastern Minnesota -- including Duluth, the Iron Range and the North Shore -- from 6 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.

At this time it appears that snowfall of 3 to 6 inches is possible in the advisory area, with locally higher amounts possible north and west of Duluth. There remains some uncertainty about how much snow will fall; check back for forecast updates.

There may be some freezing rain mixed in with the snow, especially in areas south of Duluth.
