A wind-chill advisory is in effect for much of the Northland this morning, as subzero temperatures and winds combined for chill readings of 25 to 30 degrees below zero.
The National Weather Service in Duluth said the advisory would remain in effect through 11 a.m. Some locations may see wind-chill readings of 40 below, the Weather Service said.
In these conditions, frostbite can occur within 10 to 25 minutes on exposed skin, forecasters said.
