Wilf says Childress will be back

Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf said Monday the team's NFC North title was a "milestone," that he was encouraged by the team's 2008 season -- and that coach Brad Childress will be back next season.

"Division champions. It was a milestone we'll work on and build on," Wilf said. "Just very excited about the team and its future and the direction they were headed."

Asked if Childress is "definitely coming back," Wilf said, "Yes. Yes. Yes."

"I know that the team is, as I am, ready to come back next year to defend the division championship and do better," Wilf said. "I think the experience of being in the playoffs is something to build upon, and we look forward to it."

Wilf said he would leave the decisions on what the Vikings need to do to advance further into the playoffs to his coaching and personnel staffs.

Wilf dodged a question when asked if the Vikings would be "active" in free agency.

"Right now, we're just enjoying the accomplishments that we did this year, and we'll build on that," he said.
