What's closed and what's open on New Year's Eve, New Year's Day

Friday is New Year's Day, so many businesses will be closed Thursday or Friday or both.

Open Thursday but closed Friday: Duluth post offices; Superior post offices open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Duluth city offices; Superior city offices; St. Louis County offices; Douglas County offices open until noon; Minnesota state offices; Minnesota and Wisconsin federal offices; all Duluth library branches open until 4:30 p.m.; Superior library open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Western Lake Superior Sanitary District facilities; and Duluth Transit Authority or STRIDE services.

Closed Thursday and Friday: Wisconsin state offices; Duluth and Superior schools and school district offices; and Fond du Lac Reservation tribal offices.
