WesternBank broke ground for its Central Avenue facility expansion Tuesday. The new facility will increase the square footage from the current facility's 1,500 square feet to 5,000 square feet.

The new site plan will include handicapped parking adjacent to the building. The scheduled completion date is December of this year.

An important factor determining the selection of the location for expansion was the close proximity to the freeway, which will enable WesternBank to better serve Proctor, Esko and Duluth neighborhoods along the Interstate 35 corridor.

Inside, the bank layout will focus upon enhancing the banking experience. Retail bankers and tellers will share contiguous space to facilitate interaction with the customer.

The additional space will allow WesternBank to offer more bank services, such as expanded mortgage offerings and insurance products.

During the Central Avenue road construction this summer and fall, both the WesternBank drive-up and Grand Avenue office will remain open.
