West Duluth home 'uninhabitable' after fire
No one was injured when a West Duluth home burned Sunday afternoon.
The Duluth Fire Department responded to a call of a structure fire at 220 S. 70th Avenue W. at 1:30 p.m. Crews were quickly able to put out the fire, which was in the kitchen, and remained on the scene for three hours. Three of the four residents were home at the time of the fire and were able to get out safely along with the family dog, according to a news release from the fire department.
"The family is unable to remain at the residence, as it has been deemed uninhabitable," the news release said. "The Red Cross has been contacted to connect the family with resources." Damage is estimated at $35,000.
The Duluth Police Department assisted at the scene. The Duluth Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
